Building-integrated photovoltaics

BIPV (Building-integrated photovoltaic) are photovoltaic modules that are designed as architectural and ecological components to replace conventional building materials and thereby generate electricity from the sun. Whether as facade or roof elements, these products can be integrated in new buildings as well as in existing buildings.

They consist of conventional glasses, solar cells and intermediate layers and, depending on the projects, can be multi-layered or equipped with gas chambers for better comfort.
In addition to environmentally friendly power generation, BIPV products offer a variety of other functions that can be used technically and economically for private and business people as well as public services:
  • Thermal insulation and shading to reduce energy consumption.
  • Weather and noise protection against external influences.
  • Space-saving through their integration in buildings.
  • safety due to their high resistance to mechanical and thermal loads.
  • aesthetics through a wide selection of their colors, shapes, sizes, transparency and inserts.
With the same lifespan, GGA products represent special competitive advantages over standard glasses or standard PV, which emphasize their value in use.
